The italian conductor Giuseppe Montesano ha recentemente attirato l'attenzione con il suo debutto al Teatro di Basilea (Svizzera) dirigendo La Boheme e Le Nozze di Figaro e per la registrazione dell'opera perduta di Spontini "Le Metamorfosi di Pasquale" (Dynamic/Naxos 2019).

Regularly invited as guest conductor all over Europe recent engagements include the Orchestra of the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Orchestra Filarmonica Toscanini, Orchestra Rossini di Pesaro, Landestheater Niederbayer Passau (Germany), Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), Orchestra Filarmonica de Stat Arad (Romania) and Lugansk Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine).

His debut with Verdi´s „Falstaff“ within the Wexford Opera Festival and in Festival della Valle d´Itria (Music Director, Fabio Luisi) has been posponed due to the pandemic infection of the last months.

Giuseppe Montesano, born in Turin (Italy) studied piano and composition at his hometown conservatory while simultaneously deepening his literary and philosophical interests at the University of Turin.

He studied orchestra conducting (Bachelor and Master of Arts) with Professor Georg Mark at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität and in Milano at the Conservatorio G. Verdi with Maestro Vittorio Parisi.

After his degree he became assistant conductor of Philippe Jordan at the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and assistant of Walter Kobera for the Neue Oper Wien, the viennese company of contemporary music.

Active as mentor for young conductors and coach for singers, 2019 he was guest conductor and music director of the Opera Studio of the Conservatorio di Milano for the production of „Don Giovanni“.

He is regularly invited to teach in international workshops for conductors and he faculty member in the opera and conducting departments of the Vienna Summer Music Festival.

Giuseppe Montesano won several prizes in national and international festivals and competitions both in orchestra and choir conducting and has been scholarship holder of the foundation” Associazione per la Musica De Sono”.

During the lockdown he started to work on a research based on the principles of musical phenomenology and the Schenker´s analysis.

Nato a Torino nel 1982 Giuseppe Montesano ha iniziato la formazione musicale presso il Conservatorio della sua città nelle classi di composizione e pianoforte, per poi completare i sui studi con lode in direzione d´orchestra a Vienna nella classe del Maestro Georg Mark presso il Conservatorio di Milano nella classe del Maestro Vittorio Parisi.

Terminati gli studi Giuseppe Montesano è stato direttore assistente di Philippe Jordan presso i Wiener Symphoniker, direttore assistente presso la Neue Oper Wien, la compagnia viennese di musica contemporanea e direttore assistente della Houlencourt Soloists Chamber Orchestra, dove ha collaborato con artisti del calibro di Guy Braunstein, Boris Berezovsky e Richard Galliano.

Nel 2015/16 e nel 2016/17 è stato direttore musicale della compagnia Johann Strauß Operette Wien e dal´autunno 2017 ricopre il ruolo di direttore musicale della Wiener Hofburg Orchester.

Dalla stagione 2019/20 é Direttore Ospite Principale dell´orchestra Filarmonica di Lugansk (Ucraina).

Dopo aver diretto numerosi concerti, opere ed operette in Austria, Italia, Germania, Stati Uniti, Grecia, Irlanda, Repubblica Slovacca, Ungheria, Romania e Russia, nel 2017 debutta in Italia con una produzione de „La Traviata“ presso il Teatro G.B. Pergolesi di Jesi e con l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino.

Tra le collaborazioni piú importanti si ricordano il Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, l´Orchestra Filarmonica Toscanini, l´Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, l´Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini, il Festival Pergolesi Spontini, il Teatro GB. Pergolesi di Jesi, l´Orchestra da Camera Polledro, la Savaria Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), la Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary) e l´Orchestra Filarmonica de Stat Arad (Romania).

Nella Stagione 2019/20 debutterá presso il Teatro di Basilea con la “La Boheme” di Puccini e „Le Nozze di Figaro“ di Mozart. Altre recite sono previste presso il Landestheater Niederbayern di Passau in Germania.

Attivo anche come docente e coach per cantanti e direttori, nel 2019 é stato direttore musicale dell´Opera Studio del Conservatorio G. Verdi di Milano, dove ha diretto il „Don Giovanni“ di Mozart.

Dal 2018 é anche docente del Vienna Summer Music Festival durante il quale ha diretto „La Boheme“ (2018), „Gianni Schicchi“ e „Suor Angelica“ (2019).

In qualità di direttore d’orchestra e direttore di coro ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti vincendo premi in festival e concorsi nazionali ed internazionali.

È stato borsista della Associazione per la Musica De Sono di Torino dal 2008 al 2011.

Direkt nach seinem Studium war er Assistent Dirigent bei dem Houlencourt Soloists Chamber Orchestra, wo er mit namhaften Künstlern wie Guy Braunstein, Boris Berezovsky und Richard Galliano zusammenarbeiten dürfte.

In der Saison 2015/2016 war Giuseppe Montesano Assistent von Philippe Jordan bei dem Wiener Symphoniker und in der Saisons 2013/15 war er auch Assistent von Walter Kobera bei der Neue Oper Wien.

Bereits Musikalischer Leiter der Produktionen der Johann Strauß Operette Wien, ist er seit September 2017 als Musikalischer Leiter bei dem Wiener Hofburgorchester und dem Wiener Residenz Orchester engagiert.

Seit der Saison 2019/20 ist es erster Gestdirigent des Philharmoisches Orchester Lugansk (Ukraine).

Giuseppe Montesano ist ein international gefragter Konzert- und Operndirigent. Er hat bereits Konzerte, Operetten und Opern in Belgien, Deutschland, Griechenland, Italien, Irland, Österreich, Rumänien, Russland, Ungarn und USA geleitet.

Er arbeitete erfolgreich u.a. mit dem Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Orchestra Filarmonica Toscanini, Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini, Festival Pergolesi Spontini, Teatro GB. Pergolesi di Jesi, Orchestra da Camera Polledro, Savaria Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary) and Orchestra Filarmonica de Stat Arad (Romania).

In der Saison 2019/20 wird er in Theater Basel (Schweiz) mit „La Bohéme“ von Puccini und „Le nozze di Figaro“ von W. A. Mozart debütieren und weitere Vorstellungen am Landestheater Niederbayern dirigieren.

Seine Tätigkeiten als Dirigent erweitert Giuseppe Montesano als Mentor für jüngere DirigentInnen und als Coach für SängerInnen.

Seit dem Sommer 2018 ist er Faculty Member des Vienna Summer Music Festivals, wo er Dirigier- und Gesangsstudenten unterrichtete und die Produktionen „La Boheme“, „Gianni Schicchi“ und „ Suor Angelica“ dirigierte.

Im Sommersemester 2019 war Giuseppe Montesano Musikalischer Leiter des Opera Studios vom Conservatorio di Musica di Milano, wo Mozarts „Don Giovanni“ inszeniert wurde.

Im 2011 hat er den ersten Preis an dem 5. Internationalen Dirigentenwettbewerb in Graz und im 2016 den ersten Preis an dem Internationalen Wettbewerb für Operndirigenten in Constanta gewonnen. Im 2017 wurde ihm den “Premio dell´associazione concertistica della Magna Grecia” verliehen.

Giuseppe Montesano war Stipendiat des Vereins “Associazione per la Musica De Sono”.
